ADD MEANING

Illustrations can be used to help build and tell complex stories in a simple way. 

They can be used instead of photography if the subject matter is difficult to picture, or just to use a simple graphic style. 

Our illustration style follows the same visual cues as our cells: it is simple, effortless and uses negative space intelligently to intrigue. Our illustrations should always adhere to our color palette. Gradations of our corporate colors, skin tones, black, and white are permitted. Other colors may be used in exceptional cases if they have an explanatory purpose.

BEST PRACTICES

BASIC RULES

  • Simple color
    Use our corporate colors and use only three to five colors, if possible. 
  • Flat shapes
    Do not use shading or visual effects – keep the graphics simple. 
  • No outlines
    Do not draw outlines around shapes and avoid unnecessary details or decoration. 
  • Intelligent observation
    Make sure the illustrations are easy to understand. If appropriate, a hidden meaning can be incorporated.   
  • 3D impression
    It is possible to create a 3D impression using simple, single-color surfaces without transitions.
    Do not mix the 2-D illustration style with our CGI style

ANIMATED ILLUSTRATIONS

We use an illustrated style to animate in both 2D and 3D. In doing so, we adhere to the same rules for 2D animated films: our illustrations are simple and precise, cover as much as possible, and use neither shadows nor unnecessary effects.
